Half Life 2 Case worklog

Hi everyone!
This is my firts post here - at bit-tech forums.

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Andrei Iliev, I'm 30 years old, and I live in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Currently I'm working for swedish car-company as sales person, and separately I own a little computer store.
My english is not so good, so let's face it ...
Well, enough about me.

Let's start with the Project.


About a year ago I bought second-hand case Codegen ATX-7013.




and then I was sure, that some day I'll mod that case.

I'm using LCD Smartie. It's free, easy to use and very nice.

Let's take the case now.



I've decide to made a big 12-cm hole in front of the case. A box from 100 pcs. CDs was a perfect solution for that. As you can see I removed instruments panel.

I bought this rotary tool about 20 years ago somewhere in Lithuana. I had a trip with my parents around the USSR, and me and my father were very happy about buying that thing.



Opening the 120 mm hole:


It's done, but the disc is almost finished ... :dremel:


LCD-box and ventilation tunnels are now fitted into the case's carcass:

5 mm plexiglass plate ready for cutting ...

Another short update:
I'm trying to prepare few details simultaneously, that's why this update is not full again :hip:

Second logo is ready:



This time I create it from a 6 mm plexi, and now I made a 2 mm chamfer. This logo is not for duct.

Another short update :eyebrow:
X-mas is coming, and I have too much work in my store, that's why I can't work harder on my project.

Something else: Some people ask me from time to time: "Why you don't use ready parts, why you won't cut details on laser, etc...."
BECAUSE: I want to build my project from simple and cheap materials and any stuff, that nobody want to use anywhere else... Just trying to create something interesting from nothing :idea:
Anyway ...


Today I paint the background of pipe's surface, so now I can glue the half-pipe to panel and leave the plexi tube inside the half-pipe.

Something like this:


At first picture you can see holes through which I can change LED's .. in case of emergency.

Do you remember the Half Life logo?

Another short update. I managed to steal few hours ... so ...

Voltmeter before ...

Semi-finished look of the voltmeter. I had to remove bottom right patch .. you'll see why ... later

That's all for today - it's not so much, but I'm really too busy this days...

Second panel is done. As you can see, I drill the plexi for the voltmeter, so now it's have new scala.

Last panel is made from 3 pieces of plexiglass. It must hide bolt, connecteing voltmeter to front bezel.

It's too cold to work an my balkony, that's why I'm delaying the project.

I got two gauges from russian tank.

I'll modify them from 24V to 12V and then I'll include 'em in the MOD.

I got this gauge few days ago. It's very heavy and creepy :D Initially I want to leave it as it is, but then I realize that it will be better to transform it to analog clock. Well, why not?

I'm back from Budapest - Hungary. :rock:

Here's little update: :dremel:


After glueing the "tube" and adding some poliester kit.


At this place will be located something, to which this case actually belongs. Try to guess what I'll put here ...
